Welcome to the Bosserd Family Farm website! We operate a greenhouse and farm market which offer a variety of flowers, vegetables, and fruits grown on our farm at 14721 Verona Road in historic Marshall, Michigan. We are open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from late April until the end of October.

GENERAL INFORMATION

We grow a variety of flowers, vegetables, and fruits here on our farm located about one mile west of Marshall, Michigan. We do not bring in produce from other vendors so that we can ensure the high quality of our produce at all times. We begin the season when the greenhouse opens in late April when perennials and pansies are available. The annuals, hanging baskets, containers, and vegetable seedlings are sold throughout the month of May and June. The strawberries are usually ready throughout the month of June. Vegetables and fruit are available when in season during the months of July, August, and September. The pumpkins, gourds, squash, and fall decorations are available during the last part of September and throughout October.

MORE ABOUT US

We open in late April with a large assortment of perennnials grown in the fields and gardens at our farm. Create the perfect cottage garden with foxglove, canterbury bells, sweet williams, lupines, delphiniums, dianthus, and more. Rest assured that our perennials are ready to plant since they just survived a Michigan winter in the gardens and fields at our farm. Why take chances on perennials grown in greenhouses or southern states when we offer Michigan-grown perennials acclimated and hardened to the conditions in the Marshall/Battle Creek area?

Both greenhouses are also open beginning in late April – it’s time to plant cool-weather annuals such as pansies, violas, dianthus, and snapdragons to brighten your garden after a cold Michigan winter.  Late April is also the perfect time to stop by and choose from a number of our hanging baskets that will handle cool spring weather as well as the heat of our summers. Reserve a basket for Mother's Day - we can hold the basket for you as long as you pay in advance and return to pick up the basket before Mother's Day.  As the weather warms in May, we offer a variety of traditional flowers and vegetables in flats (impatiens, petunias, salvias, marigolds, tomatoes, peppers, and more).  We also offer premium annuals from Proven Winners, Proven Selections, The Flowerfields, and Simply Beautiful throughout May and June. In addition to offering these premium annuals in individual pots for you to use in your own containers and gardens, we will also have numerous hanging baskets and assorted containers featuring these annuals.

The strawberry season usually begins in early June and continues throughout the month - stop by to buy berries we picked that morning or pick your own in our strawberry field. Cucumbers, zucchini, and new potatoes are available shortly after the 4th of July.  Sweet corn, tomatoes, melons, peppers, onions, beans, and eggplants begin to produce later in July. As the produce slows later in September, the pumpkins, corn stalks, gourds, painted pumpkins, mums, and other fall decorations are available.

ACTIVITIES ON THE FARM

June is strawberry month – stop by and pick some fresh strawberries.  During the summer, walk through the flower gardens and pick your own flower bouquet in the gardens for $5.00 (approximately 15 stems). In the fall, bring the family to pick your own pumpkins in the field, try to find your way through the 5-acre corn maze, and feed the animals at the petting farm. School tours for children ages 3-8 are available in the fall - tours include a wagon ride to the pumpkin field, your own pumpkin picked from the field, food for the petting farm animals, and a walk through the corn maze. The cost is $4 per child, and we do ask that an adult chaperone be available for every six children.
